Recently, a Colorado fire department was driving down a mountain road that is a long way from town. Suddenly the firefighters spotted a tiny figure. It was sitting, unmoving, on the road.
At first the men thought it was a skunk or a raccoon. But when they approached the animal, they saw that it was a dog who had appeared there for no reason at all.
Eddie Tobin, a young firefighter, got close to the baby. But the little dog was so scared that the guy didn’t dare even touch it. Eddie was forced to sit next to the dog for about 20 minutes and feed him pieces of candy and chocolate.
Tobin had no doubt that the dog had been deliberately brought to this remote place and left alone to die alone… It was a good thing people hadn’t stumbled upon the poor dog too late.
Tobin took the dog in his arms and together the firefighters took her to the veterinary clinic. On the way, the men chose a name for her, Smokey.
The doctor, after examining the four-legged patient, announced that the doggie’s ribs were fractured. Probably from being kicked…
That’s the end of the sad pages of Smokey’s life. She is safe, recovering quickly. But the most important thing is something else. From now on, the dog will never be alone again. Eddie and his fiancée plan to give the dog a home in their home. Especially since they already have several dogs rescued by the same couple.
And the person who did such a ruthless thing to Smokey was hoping that the doggie wouldn’t survive. So it was wonderful that the firefighting team’s path that day lay through this very spot.
